Dr. Abiola Ojo

Dr Abiola Ojo is a leading and seasoned financial services professional with over 30 years proven extensive expertise and experience in Banking and Finance spanning business development and relationship management.  His experience spread across Retail, Commercial, Project and Real Estate Development / Financing. Trained by internationally accredited institutions in principles and practice of business development, relationship management, real estate finance, project finance and project management.

His area of expertise is broad but more focused on Real Estate Financing and has led professional teams in financing and delivering about 3,000 housing units in Lagos and Abuja over the past few years.  His vast experience also covers commercial loans, trade finance, project and infrastructure financing.

 

Dr. Abiola Ojo holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc Honors) degree in Microbiology and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.   He also obtained a Master of Science degree in Corporate Governance from Leeds Metropolitan University (now Leeds Beckett University), United Kingdom and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration from Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Nigeria.

He began his banking career with Nigeria Arab Bank Limited (now Skye Bank Plc) before moving to Chartered Bank Limited (now Stanbic IBTC) and subsequently Sterling Bank Plc (Magnum Trust Bank) in 2001. He has held several roles in the banking industry spanning operations where he rose to head of operations before moving to credit and marketing responsible for business development, credit initiation and relationship management.  He was at a time the Group Head, Projects, Group Head, Real Estate Finance and Business Executive Commercial banking at Sterling Bank Plc. 

Dr Abiola Ojo possesses first class analytical skills, the judgement required to drive financial/ economic reforms, convert complex financial and investment challenges into clear choices. He has attended the Real Estate Management program of Havard Business School, Project Finance Workshop by Euromoney Training, Real Estate Finance and Investment program by IIR Middle East in addition to several management programs in leading educational institutions including Harvard Business School and Lagos Business School.

Dr Abiola Ojo has also published a few articles in academic journals.

His career spans two decade, during which he has honed his skills in financial reporting, budget analysis, and project management. Deji has a proven track record of delivering insightful financial analyses that drive strategic decision-making, reduce costs, and improve profitability. His experience includes engaging with stakeholders and external investors, ensuring transparency and compliance while managing contracts and financial risks.

A skilled and versatile professional, trained by internationally accredited institutions, and with over 20 years of experience in Project Management, Business Development and Relationship Management roles spread across Banking and Real Estate sectors.  Morakinyo is a seasoned professional with a distinguished 23-year career in the banking industry, specializing in project management and Real Estate financing. He honed his expertise in leading high-impact projects, driving operational excellence, and fostering innovation within challenging environments. With a strong foundation in Corporate and Commercial Banking, Risk Management, and compliance, he has successfully delivered results that align with organizational goals and enhance overall business performance.

 

Morakinyo is a project management professional (PMP) and he also holds a Master of Science Degree from Liverpool University, United Kingdom.

Morakinyo thrives in dynamic and fast-paced settings where adaptability and problem-solving skills are paramount. His commitment to continuous improvement and proactive communication has been instrumental in fostering collaboration across departments and driving lasting change within organizations.

He began his banking career as a Marketing and Credit Officer with Indo – Nigeria Merchant Bank, and subsequently moved to Magnum Trust Bank Ltd as a Business Development and Relationship Management Officer. Magnum Trust Bank, in combination with four other banks, came together to form Sterling Bank Plc in 2006. He worked with Sterling Bank till December 2023, after which he moved into consultancy.

Until his resignation from Sterling Bank, he was the Team Lead for Real Estate and Construction desk in the Commercial Banking division of the Bank.

His track record includes spearheading cross-functional teams to implement strategic initiatives that optimize processes, mitigate risks, and improve customer experiences. Leveraging a blend of analytical acumen and leadership skills, he has overseen the successful execution of complex projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints and exceeding stakeholder expectations.
